What To Expect
What To Expect
Selecting an attorney is an important decision. Please don’t rely solely on advertisements when making this decision. Please read our legal notices here.
Scheduling An Appointment
Appointments are scheduled in advance by calling our office. Appointments are held via telephone or video conference, not in person. Once we schedule your appointment, we will ask you to complete some paperwork and return it to us before the appointment.
Initial Appointment
The initial appointment typically lasts thirty minutes. During the initial appointment, the attorney will discuss briefly our firm’s policies and process regarding estate planning and/or estate administration. Of course, most of the appointment will be spent learning about your needs and concerns. Burkett Law hopes you’ll find our attorneys to be warm and approachable, regardless of your age, wealth or education.
Hiring Our Firm
At the end of your initial appointment, the attorney will describe for you what to expect next. If the attorney determines that you need our legal services, our firm will prepare an engagement letter. This letter describes to you the services we will perform for you, our fees, and other important items regarding our legal representation. Whether you are meeting with us for estate planning or estate administration, the attorney will develop an action plan with you so that you understand what steps will be taken and an approximate timeline for those steps. Timely, clear communication is important throughout our representation.
